Checklists

CheckEagle exists to allow you to use, create, manage and share checklists. A checklist can be what it sounds like—a list of steps to do or check—or almost any other kind of list or short form—a to-do list, a shopping list, a set of instructions, a recipe, a set of books you want, or whatever.

You can use checklists you find on the site and you can create your own, either by modifying an existing one or starting from scratch. If you do create checklists, you can choose whether or not to let other people see them and use them. And if you fill in your checklists online, the site can store a record of what you filled in.

You can use plain checklists or format them using styles; again, you can use styles that other people have shared on the site or you can create your own. If you already know CSS, you’ll be right at home, because the styles used are standard CSS stylesheets.

Organization with Bookmarks

CheckEagle uses bookmarks and tags for organization. Everything created in CheckEagle has a web address, and you can store a bookmark to that web address in CheckEagle itself. For example, you might have a checklist for travel whose full name is /checklists/yourname/travel/v1. If you take a copy of the checklist, what really happens is CheckEagle stores a bookmark to that web address. You can add tags to your bookmark, to help you find it. Tags are just words, and if you get into the habit of adding a few appropriate tags whenever you save a bookmark, you’ll probably never have much trouble finding them.

CheckEagle also has styles, which again have their own web addresses on the site. You can save bookmarks to styles, tag them, and combine any checklist with any style simply by pairing them together.

Using CheckEagle to Store Other Web Bookmarks

Since CheckEagle has a full bookmarking and tagging capability, it would seem artificial to say that you can only save bookmarks and tag web addresses for content that lives on CheckEagle; so we don’t. You can store bookmarks to any web address you like on the site, tag it, and either share it or keep it private. The LINKS section at the top takes you to your general bookmarks.
